The Online Campus: international and alive

Imagine looking down your row during weekend services and realizing you’re sitting beside people from 17 different countries, all worshipping and learning together.
That’s what’s happening on Christ Fellowship’s Online Campus. Over a one-month span, our services were watched in the United States, of course, but also in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Malta, Philippines, France, Iraq, Bermuda, Jamaica, China, Bahamas, Switzerland, Lithuania, Denmark and Spain.
Here are some postcards from this international outreach:
Barrie and Nancy gather friends in their home every week to watch Christ Fellowship’s Sunday morning services – except it’s 4:00 p.m. in England, where they live. Barrie, a chiropractor, also opens his office for a small-group gathering of 15 to 20 people each Tuesday evening.
On the other side of the planet, a young Australian woman named Tracy found Christ Fellowship after Googling “John Maxwell” and happening upon Christ Fellowship’s website.
The Internet Campus also is helping to connect people who’ve left the area. After Tim and Christine moved from Juno Beach to Brooklyn, they began to watch Christ Fellowship services online and have started a weekly small group. Through Internet Pastor David Helbig, they got in touch with Marie, another Christ Fellowship transplant who quickly became part of their little community of faith.
While living here in the States, Chantal and Robert gave their hearts to Christ while attending Christ Fellowship. They rebuilt their marriage and connected with Recovery Ministries to overcome their struggles. Eventually they felt God was calling them back to their native France to share the gospel with friends who’d never heard it before. They watch our live services online each weekend, inviting family and friends and translating the services into French.
As intended, we’re also reaching people who live lonely lives. Pastor David got this e-mail from Richard, a trucker, who’d been invited to attend Christ Fellowship during a South Florida swing and now watches online: “Right now I’m actually parked in my semi in a grass lot, waiting on the 11:00 a.m. sermon. I’m glad to find a place where I feel welcome and don’t feel out of place. Even though it’s on the Internet for now, I will gladly join your service every time I can. Thank you for opening my eyes to hope again.”
Dwight, a 30-year-old who lost the use of his arms and controls his computer through voice commands, joined an online chat after a recent service. His disability has been isolating, but the online connection to Christ Fellowship opened up new possibilities for him. Dwight wrote, “Maybe this is a way, even for me, to be involved in a church.”
Our Online Campus means church anywhere, anytime. We have chats (Skype group: CFonline.group), live streaming services and sermon archives, and even a dedicated pastor. To learn more, visit our website or e-mail Internet Campus Pastor David Helbig.
